Together by kach-back
This painting is a gift for a surgeon that did some work on me recently (oral surgery, nothing too serious). We had talked about painting and she said she rather liked poppies, so hopefully she likes these ones.

The reference of this is from a wonderful photo taken by :iconrezzanatakol: and this is the posted version of this photo.

Lost hopes by RezzanATAKOL

The reference was a slightly different edit that Rezzan was kind enough to provide for me.

I used Winsor & Newton transparent watercolours, a bit of gouache, and some acrylic as well. It was painted on an Arches Watercolour Block, Cold Pressed 100% Cotton, 31 x 41 cm (12 x 16 in).
Old Southwood Golf Course - #17 Green by kach-back
Old Southwood Golf Course - #17 Green
Many years ago I was a golfer and a member of a wonderful golf club here in Winnipeg. I have not been a member there for thirteen years, and in fact that property has been sold, and an entirely new club has been built. One of the long term employees of the club is retiring after a very long career there, and I painted this watercolour and provided it to someone that is giving it to her as a retirement gift. I had completed it some time ago but since it is being presented to her this evening I figure it's finally okay to post it.

The reference is from an actual film photo I took myself. I used Winsor & Newton transparent watercolours, and it was painted on an Arches Watercolour Block, Cold Pressed 100% Cotton, 31 x 41 cm (12 x 16 in).
Owen Sound Sunset by kach-back
Owen Sound Sunset
This is a painting of a sunset at Owen Sound, Ontario. I was there this past summer doing work, and I had the opportunity for a few photos one evening, and therefore the reference photo is my own.

I used Winsor & Newton transparent watercolours, and it was painted on an Arches Watercolour Block, Cold Pressed 100% Cotton, 31 x 41 cm (12 x 16 in).

- Edit -

:iconxrls: Made the observation that the bottom half of the painting looked very clean and smooth, and the top half (the sky), looked rough by comparison. Now she did say I could refer to her as a "brat" for pestering me about my sky, but when I looked at it I agreed that she was very correct. So I did something I never do and that is I went back into this painting, and did two separate re-washes on the sky to adjust it. This is now how it looks, thank you very much Christina for pointing it out.
Just a quick note here tonight.  I have begun the process of removing my website, favoring it for a Facebook Business page instead.

Seeing as I am not a full time artist at the moment I decided that going with a Facebook Business page was better, and suited my needs just a bit more.

I will still be active on dA, and I have a watercolour coming up to finish, many acrylics, and I will get back to pencil crayons, and even watercolour pencils this year.

Here is my URL which now points to my Facebook page:…

Please take a look and if you have any suggestions for me please do send them on, I would appreciate that. :-)

  • Mood: Seasonal
  • Listening to: Great Tunes on YouTube
  • Reading: A new camera manual (only the important bits)
  • Watching: Watercolour paint dry
  • Playing: Nothing
  • Eating: Soon
  • Drinking: Fruit juice
