From the Shore - Booster Lake by kach-back From the Shore - Booster Lake by kach-back
A watercolour/dry brush painting of a fall scene at Booster Lake in Nopiming Park, Manitoba, Canada. It is 31 x 41 cm (12 x 16 in) in size, and painted on Arches Watercolour Block 140 LB Cold Pressed. This painting was sketched out three years ago, but due to work taking my energy I did not get to it. Now I have managed to get back to painting it is my first finished painted since going back to full time non-art work.

It is a companion to an earlier painting of mine "Jackfish Bay - Booster Lake" which is posted on my website.

Wow, it's a marvelous landscape painting, you do that with
watercolor like a master, I know how it's a hard medium to paint.
You make us dream like we are with you in this landscape.

Thank you Daniel, that painting sat for a long time, and once I completed it, that was the one that got me back painting, and back on dA as well. Watercolour is in my opinion the hardest paint medium to master, and it's like working without a net, if you fall, you die.

I really appreciate your kind words and all of the :+fav:'s of my work. :D

Oh yes,the lake looks very tranquil and pure. I would love to see Canada properly in the future (I have been to Quebec, when I was 13; and it was in February and was - 30 degrees Celsius..:D). What part of the country is this? :)

Canada is well worth the visit, Quebec is very beautiful, but you would probably prefer it in the summertime. :-)

I live in the very middle, Winnipeg, Manitoba. This lake is on the East side of Manitoba in a park called Nopiming Park. I have done a few paintings from there, and my next acrylic is from there as well.

That is true, I do prefer the warmth. (I was on a school skiing trip when I went to Quebec and I was so cold I was crying. :p )

It must be lovely to live in a landscape that is seemingly untouched by man. I live in the country, but what I mean by 'country,' is really farmland on the outskirts of towns and small hills. There is no virgin forest here anymore.

Thankyou for the link, have you seen a bald eagle in Nopiming park?

I am looking forward to seeing your next painting. :)

That sounds no fun for you at all. :-( You probably disliked Canada for a while after that. If it makes you feel any better when I was young (a long time ago) we used to play hockey outdoors in the wintertime. This would be followed by a team of little boys crying in their hot chocolate as their feet thawed out.

There are many many areas here that have almost never seen more then a hand full of people ever. Believe it or not those spots are within two hours of where I live and stretch for vast distances.

I have seen many bald eagles in Nopiming, they sometimes come and watch us fishing and beat us to the catch. In the spring we often get very close to their nests and you can see and hear the young eagles. They are the most beautiful creatures that fly to amazing heights to look for food.

Here is a link to my next Nopiming Painting: [link]

I did (also one of the school teacher's who took us was a really horrible man, but that is not really Canada's fault :D). However, I do recall even then being very inspired on seeing Canada from an air craft; as before I had been used to seeing some sort of human influenced landscape..and it was just a beautiful white wilderness...

Wow, that must have made you quite tough I guess? ;) That is funny, hockey is one of the few sports that I enjoyed playing.

I am very glad that you see bald eagles regularly, it is nice to know that they are not dying out as so many birds of prey are becoming threatened.

Your WIP looks beautiful, and the sky looks flawless, it gives the impressive of an intense and still summer's day, with not a cloud in sight. It was worth you going over it until you got it perfect. When do you think you will finish it? :)

Yeah that describes here very well "white wilderness".

Hockey is a great sport, and not played outdoors very often anymore.

You could literally see just about anything you wanted to in Canada, even Polar Bears in the wild. But I have been close to many eagles over the years. Seeing wild timber wolves in person is quite a thrill as well.

Thanks about the wip, I redid that sky many times but I am very happy with it now. I am almost done my current watercolour flower, and I have two after it so I would say that I would get to that one sometime in April. :-)
